OUR HISTORY - VANILLAFLY 2010

We met by chance through our daughters’ football club, and it instantly “clicked” between us. As stay-at-home moms for years (and eventually big kids) we both agreed it was time to get started on something new!

A cozy trip to New York was the start of our joint journey as self-employed. In a store, we found perfume bottles from the rebellious American brand TokyoMilk. We quickly became keen to get the distribution of the Brand in the Nordics, and luckily we succeeded.

We rented 25 sqm in a pigsty and bought 4 storage racks. However, after quite a few days – we had to replace the cold pigsty with a more comfortable room. Today we have an office, showroom and a warehouse of 700 sqm, under one roof.

For a trade fair in Sweden, we had designed some posters especially for styling our stand. It turned out, however, that customers were very interested in buying our posters. After the fair, we designed even more posters, and posters became pillows, postcards, cosmetic bags, and later other products such as lamps, candlesticks and dishes were added. We simply love creating regular products with a mix of fun and quirky angles.

It was not exactly on the cards that two stay-at-home “football mothers” should end up as self-employed business women, but our shared passion for interior design and unique things for the home means that today we live out a dream of sharing our joy of unique interiors.

We are a bit like Yin and Yang – when one is weak, the other is strong. We always support each other, are good at giving each other praise and compliments and we laugh together every day.

The motivation is that it is great to go to work every single day and the happiness is that our customers are just as excited about our universe as we are.
